Thank you so much again, Sissy and Ronald TEN YEARS LATER In 1998, Sissy and Ronald Schranz of Austria, Europe decided to get married: "In order to make it a really enjoyable, private event, we tried to get away from the everyday hassle and usual environment. Since we love Florida, we searched the Sunshine State for a special place--and we found Sanibel. A marriage on the beach, that was it! With a little research on the internet we detected Patricia Slater who arranges marriages on Sanibel. We contacted her, and she took care of every detail in a lovely way. The wedding ceremony itself was just perfect, unforgettable." Patricia married the couple on the beach just next to mile marker 6 at the sunset of May 15, 1998, witnessed only by daughter Marie. Ten years later, Ron had the idea to surprise Sissy. The family with daughters Marie and Jennifer planned a trip to Florida, and Ron secretly asked Patricia to organize a repeat ceremony. Sissy was simply overwhelmed when they she ran into Patricia on the wedding day shortly before sunset: "Exactly ten years later we married again, on the very same spot on the beach, in the sunset. This event was even more emotional than the original one, so full of harmony and love. Just us, the two kids, Patricia who conducted a copy of the ceremony in her meaningful, empathic, stylish way; and of course Frank Simonetti who made the most beautiful pictures--just like a decade before! We'll be back!" Sissy and Ron wish to extend their greatest thanks to Patricia Slater and Frank Simonetti who made both their weddings the events of their lives. |

Hi Pat, I'm so glad to have the chance to thank you for everything. You were extremely professional, taking care of every little detail, and making planning a wedding from afar easier than I ever imagined it could be. And then, when we arrived and met you, it immediately felt like we were working with a friend. We all agreed it couldn't have been a lovelier, sweeter, more beautiful and meaningful wedding and reception, if we had paid thousands more in money. The wedding photos are absolutely amazing. I look at them over and over and over. That day as we started out for the Chapel, Joy spotted her Grandpa, all dressed up and looking so proud, and she started to cry. She cried all the way to the Chapel, but then, as soon as we arrived, Frank showed up and whisked her away, and she got all caught up in what he was doing (and having fun, feeling like a star) that she stopped crying, and was fine from then on. Please also convey my thanks to Reverend Hansel. What a kind man. Everyone seemed to understand that this could have been a sad event, with Joy's not having her Dad to walk her down the aisle, and did everything possible to make it a good experience for her. It could not have been better, in anyway. My thanks to you all, and I hope we meet again someday. (I do have a son, you know). Margo Reiss (Joy's Mom) November 25, 2006 |
If you’re out of town and want to get married on Sanibel or Captiva, my husband and I highly recommend using Patricia Slater’s Weddings by the Sea. Here’s why: Trying to get married from long distance is fraught with problems. I needed someone who was familiar with the restaurants, the beaches for the ceremony, where to get my hair done, how to get my guests from the airport to their hotels, etc. A million things I could never have figured out. Once Pat and I spoke, there was no doubt I’d found the right person. She was well-versed with all the nuances of getting married on the beach, including the exact time the sun would set on our day! Throughout the whole process of arranging the wedding for us, she was highly professional, efficient, and knew all the details of what would make our day perfect. One of the most amazing things was how well connected and respected she is on the islands. Any question or request I had, she just picked up the phone to call her contact, and she had an answer. She is a customer service expert. For example, the night before the wedding, I remembered that I needed to have my fiancé’s shirt pressed. Normally, this would have meant at least an hour trip off-island for me. Instead she suggested that I leave the shirt with her since she know a woman who could do this for me. Pat dropped the shirt off for me, and the next day delivered it back to us, perfectly pressed. This was above and beyond what her job was, and she did it with a smile. The day of the wedding, there are so many things that need to be handled, and she managed them all and more. Her attention to detail astounded me, and she seemed to anticipate my every need. Her recommendations on who to use for the photographer, the flowers, and the wedding site itself were excellent. She even managed to order up the most perfect sunset imaginable. But the best part for us was having Pat conduct the ceremony. She was warm and embracing and we felt like we were being married by a member of our family. Every one of my guests commented to me on how wonderful she was, and how lucky I was to have found her. I couldn’t agree more.
After the wedding was over, I was so ecstatic with how it all turned
out, I told Pat two things. 1) I would have paid her ten times what
she charged for the incredible service she provided, and 2) I am
available as a reference at anytime. That’s how good she is. |
